SOG and Bhaktinagar Police Station arrested one with brown sugar worth Rs 3 Crores in Siliguri

Siliguri, 23rd October: SOG has once again achieved success in apprehending drug peddler with drugs worth crores just a day before Diwali. The arrested accused has been identified as Vikas Mandal, a resident of Malda. The team of SOG and Bhaktinagar Police station apprehended Vikas with brown sugar worth Rs 3 crores.  


 

According to SOG sources, the team received a tip-off about the delivery of brown sugar which was being smuggled from Malda to Siliguri today. The said delivery was about to happen near Gandhi Nagar adjacent to Shaheed Nagar More of National Highway no. 31 under Bhaktinagar police station. 


 

Acting promptly on the tip-off, a team of SOG and Bhaktingar Police Station conducted a campaign where the alleged accused was searched on the basis of suspicion. While conducting the search, a packet of brown sugar was recovered from inside his bag which weighed 1Kg 500gm. The said brown sugar’s estimated market value is estimated to be around Rs.3 crore.

 

After this, taking legal action in the presence of ACP Manish Yadav, accused Vikas Mandal was arrested.  The accused Vikas Mandal will be produced in Jalpaiguri cour tomorrow.
