Smugglers transporting wood hidden under sacks filled with glass bottle busted in Rajganj, two arrested

Rajganj, 21st August: Forest Personnel of Belakoba range launched a campaign and caught Burma wood worth lakhs of rupees being smuggled hidden under sacks of bottles and arrested two people.


Reportedly, forest personnel stopped a truck on the Siliguri-Jalpaiguri National Highway in the early hours of today in Kartoa area of Rajganj. After this, during the search, Burma wood worth Rs 20 lakh was recovered from the truck. The owner and driver of the truck have been arrested in this incident.

The alleged accused have been identified as Chandan Kumar and Chhotu, residents of Jharkhand. According to forest department sources, the wood was being smuggled from Guwahati to Maharashtra. The two accused will be produced in Jalpaiguri district court on Monday.
