Siliguri's Ward No. 03 youth attacked for protesting against sale of intoxicants

Siliguri, 09th February: Due to the illegal sale of intoxicants across the city, teenage drug addiction is on the rise. Although several police operations are being carried out in this regard, the illegal trade blatantly continues. Upon protesting, locals often get harassed and humiliated.

A similar incident took place in Ward No. 03 under Siliguri Municipal Corporation. Mohammad Jabbar, a dealer in the area, allegedly attacked a youth when he protested against the sale of intoxicants. The locals then lodged a complaint against Mohammad Jabbar at the Pradhan Nagar police station and demanded immediate arrest.

Locals warned of protesting in front of the Pradhan Nagar police station if Mohammad Jabbar is not arrested within 12 hours. It is to be noted that Jabbar was earlier arrested several times on charges of smuggling intoxicants.
