Siliguri, 13th August: Siliguri Municipal Corporation Deputy Mayor Ranjan Sarkar sent a letter to the Railway Minister demanding to restart the Darjeeling Mail from NJP. It is to recall, the Railways had earlier taken a decision to run Darjeeling Mail from Haldibari station from August 15.
In this regard, Ranjan Sarkar said that the Darjeeling Mail is a part of the district’s heritage and alleged conspiracy as they are dishonouring and disregarding the legacy and reputation of the Darjeeling Mail. He further questioned the relocation of the mail to another place despite the MP and Railway Minister being from BJP. He further demanded the Ministry to relocate Darjeeling Mail to run from the NJP station at the earliest.
