Siliguri, 04th July: A woman has alleged that justice has not been served in connection with the death of her son, as the accused named in the case remain at large even after several years.
The complainant, Kalpana Choudhury, a resident of Dhaknikata Notun Busty in Champasari, stated that her son, late Dilip Choudhury, lost his life in 2014 when he tried to intervene in a local altercation and was allegedly attacked with sharp weapons by miscreants.
The woman stated that she had lodged a police complaint naming several individuals, including Pradip Debnath, Swapan Mahanta, Billa, Nirjan Saha, Jibon Saha, Dilip Barman, Bapi Roy, and Deepak. However, she alleged that despite the passage of many years, the accused have not been arrested.
Kalpana Choudhury further alleged that during the incident, former councillor Dilip Barman had protected the accused persons. She also claimed that a false case was later filed against her at Pradhan Nagar police station in Siliguri.
She stated that she was granted bail in that case on 25 June 2026 and added that financial hardship has made it difficult for her to manage legal expenses.
The woman also alleged that she faces threats while attending court hearings related to the case. She further claimed that her lawyer is not effectively handling the matter, resulting in prolonged delays in the judicial process.
