Siliguri Police perform Rabindra Sangeet on the streets to celebrate Rabindra Jayanti

Siliguri, 08th May: In view of the 159th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore, all the police stations, apart from celebrating the day, have also been asked to raise COVID-19 awareness among the people.


Following the government instructions, the police personnel of the Siliguri Police Commissionerate adopted several initiatives and were spotted singing Rabindra Sangeet on the streets of Siliguri. Besides, such an initiative has been taken to also boost the spirits of the people amid COVID-19 lockdown.

Apart from singing songs, the police officials were seen playing table (a musical instrument) with much enthusiasm. The emergency service workers enjoyed their performances and highly praised the initiative taken.


As per the reports, the citizens paid homage to the statue of Tagore in various places and unlike every other year, no big celebrations and gatherings were allowed to stop community transmission of the virus.
