Siliguri Police Commissioner ensures better and strict security during the Puja, 1641 police personnel to be deployed 

Siliguri, 27th September: Siliguri Metropolitan Police has already been gearing up with the preparations regarding Durga Puja. This year the security system of the city has been strengthened even more during the puja in comparison to the last year. Along with strict security, the number of policemen deployed has also increased. 


The new Siliguri Police Commissioner Akhilesh Chaturvedi held a press conference at the Siliguri Metropolitan Police Office, regarding the preparations for the puja. During this, he gave information on the strong security system as compared to last year. Around, 216 police officers, 800 constables, 400 home guards, and 225 female police personnel will be deployed for security arrangements in Durga Puja. In all, this time 1641 police personnel will be deployed for security during the celebrations of Durga Puja in the city. At the same time, keeping in mind the safety of women, the Winners squad will also take the streets of the city to ensure proper protection thus playing an important role.

At the same time, the new police commissioner said that the ban on DJs during puja and immersion has not been decided yet. On the other hand, special preparations are being arranged for traffic in the city till the Carnival on 07th October. In order to avoid any inconvenience to the common people, the traffic rules during the puja will start from Panchami evening or the 5th Day of the celebrations. Outbound state-bound buses and freight trains will run from Eastern Bypass via Noukaghat.
