Two arrested with 275 grams of brown sugar in Bagdogra

Bagdogra, 19th August: Bagdogra police arrested two persons after intercepting a four-wheeler suspected of being used to smuggle narcotics on Tuesday night.

Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a raid and intercepted the vehicle near Muni Tea Estate along National Highway 31. During a search, officers recovered 275 grams of brown sugar from the vehicle’s dashboard.

The arrested persons have been identified as Mohammad Mohsin and Deepak Kumar Roy, both residents of Kishanganj, Bihar. According to police sources, the seized narcotics are estimated to have a market value of around ₹30 lakh.

A case has been registered against the accused under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. They are scheduled to be produced before the Siliguri Sub-divisional Court on Wednesday.

Police have launched an investigation to determine the source of the narcotics and identify others who may be involved in the alleged smuggling network.
