Siliguri Municipal Corporation failed in the prevention of dengue: Opposition leader Amit Jain

Siliguri, 10th September: Siliguri is witnessing an increase in dengue cases day by day. Speaking on this, Opposition leader Amit Jain has claimed that Siliguri Municipal Corporation has failed to mitigate the outbreak of the disease.  


Addressing the journalists today regarding this, Amit Jain expressed his anguish against the Municipal Corporation. He further said that Siliguri’s drainage system is poor. Work has come to a standstill in various construction areas for several days. The number of mosquitoes is increasing due to the accumulation of water there. The awareness campaign is not being run properly by the SMC Due to this the outbreak of dengue is increasing. He also said that proper arrangements should be made for the treatment of dengue patients through the Swasthya Sathi health cards of the state government. 

At the same time, Mayor-Council of the Municipal Corporation Dulal Dutta said that out of all the wards under the Municipal Corporation, Ward No. 04 and 05 are the dirtiest. The drains are not being cleaned properly. Dengue infection rate is high in the said areas. He also said that it is the responsibility of the councilors to work in the said wards as they should be more aware. Only then can the outbreak of dengue can stop.
