Siliguri Metropolitan Police Traffic Department issues change in traffic rules for Durga Puja

Siliguri, 30th September: Siliguri Metropolitan Traffic Department’s guideline regarding Durga Puja has been released today. According to the traffic guide, changes have been made in various routes from today onwards and will continue till Dashami, along with this, changes have been made during the time of ‘No Entry’ in the city as well.


To keep Siliguri jam-free during the puja, the traffic department of Siliguri Metropolitan has made a new route for the movement of outbound buses from outside the state through PC Mittal and Naukaghat. Most of the devotees in the puja starts pandal hop from Panchami itself. Therefore, there will be no entry on the movement of vehicles on the main roads from the city from 4 pm to 2 am today. E-rickshaws will also not be able to ply on the main roads during the puja. At the same time, the passenger bus from Naxalbari, Bagdogra, Kharibari will move through the Naukaghat during the puja. Along with this, buses of Bagrakote will also run from the same.

Reportedly, it is said on behalf of Traffic DCP Purnima Sherpa that they have changed the traffic rules regarding puja which will become effective from today. Buses going out of state will run from PC Mittal and Naukaghat till the puja ends. There will be no entry into the city from today evening till 2 am. At the same time, strict action will be taken against those who drive under the influence of alcohol. At the same time, she urged the people of the .city to follow the traffic rules.
