Siliguri Junction Traffic Police conduct drive at Regulated Market, fine several trucks

Siliguri, 23rd June: The Siliguri Junction Traffic Guard conducted a special enforcement drive at the Regulated Market in Siliguri on Tuesday and fined several trucks parked outside designated parking areas.

The action comes days after Siliguri MLA and State Tourism Minister Shankar Ghosh visited the Regulated Market and identified several irregularities during an inspection of the market premises.

Traffic officials said truck drivers had been repeatedly warned in the past to park their vehicles only in designated areas within the market. However, many drivers allegedly continued to violate the rules.

As part of Tuesday’s drive, traffic personnel took action against several trucks found parked outside the authorised parking zones and issued fines accordingly.

The Traffic Department has made it clear that all goods-carrying vehicles operating within the Regulated Market must use only the designated parking spaces. Officials warned that strict action would be taken against any vehicle found parked illegally.

The drive is being seen as an important step towards improving traffic management and maintaining order within the market area. Traders and truck drivers have also been urged to follow the rules to ensure smooth movement of vehicles inside the market premises.
