Siliguri, 18th May: During a meeting with the Board of Administrators (BoA) and the municipality officials on Monday, the newly appointed Chairman of Siliguri Civic Body Ashok Bhattacharya stated that he, along with his team members, will try their optimum level to accomplish the responsibilities assigned to them by the state government.
It is to be noted that the term of the elected board at Siliguri Municipal Corporation ended on May 17, 2020, following which the new administrative board has taken charge of the Municipality. CPI(M) leader Ashok Bhattacharya has been appointed as the chairperson and 6 members of the Mayor-in-Council have been included in the BoA.
During the meeting, Bhattacharya stated that although it is a big challenge to work in such a crisis, they will make sure to complete the pending work soon. Besides, the new civic body has also decided to retain the power of the councilors of Siliguri.
