Siliguri, 02nd September: The administration conducted a special inspection at reputed restaurants and food outlets inside a shopping mall in Siliguri on Wednesday. The inspection was conducted in the presence of Siliguri Police Commissioner Syed Waquar Raza, Darjeeling District Magistrate Harishanker Panicker, the SDO, other administrative officials and officials from the Food Safety Department.
During the inspection, officials checked the quality of food, food preparation methods, storage facilities and all necessary documents. They also examined whether food safety regulations were being properly followed, whether the ingredients used for preparing food met the required standards, and whether the establishments had valid permissions and necessary documents.
Darjeeling District Magistrate Harishankar Paniker said that a total of eight restaurants, pubs and bars at a shopping mall in Matigara, Siliguri were inspected on Wednesday. Notices were issued to two establishments, and they were asked to produce their documents.
Siliguri Police Commissioner Syed Waquar Raza said that the Food Safety Department has been conducting continuous inspections across Siliguri. He said ensuring food safety for the general public is the primary objective and added that police would take action if any food-related issue is reported to them.
