Siliguri, 01st September: Pradhan Nagar Police arrested two men in connection with two separate alleged fraud cases involving promises of jobs and loans in Siliguri.
In the first case, police arrested 21-year-old Sameer Raut, a resident of Gurung Basti, following a complaint alleging that he had defrauded two people of around ₹28 lakh by promising them jobs in banks and other institutions. According to the complaint, he allegedly took ₹14 lakh from each of the two complainants.
In the second case, police arrested Bicky Ghosh, a resident of Baghajatin Colony, over an alleged loan-related fraud involving around ₹40,000.
According to the complaint, Ghosh allegedly took a mobile loan of around ₹80,000 in a woman’s name and gave her only ₹40,000.
Both accused were produced before the court. Police are investigating the cases and are also examining whether the accused may have allegedly defrauded other people using similar methods.
