Sarika Rajput death case: Family meets Siliguri Police Commissioner seeking justice

Siliguri, 22nd June: The mysterious death of 21-year-old floor artist Sarika Rajput in Siliguri continues to spark concern. Alleging that no concrete action has been taken against the bar owner and manager named in the FIR even eight days after the incident, the deceased’s mother and younger sister met the Siliguri Police Commissioner on Monday seeking justice.

Sarika, a resident of Delhi, had been living in Siliguri for nearly two years and was employed as a floor artist at a restaurant-cum-bar on Sevoke Road. According to her family, she had been working to support her household financially. Her body was found hanging in a rented room at Sarkarpara under Bhakti Nagar Police Station.

Following the incident, Sarika’s younger sister lodged a written complaint at Bhakti Nagar Police Station, accusing the bar owner and manager of subjecting her to prolonged mental and physical harassment. The family alleges that despite the complaint, no significant action has been taken so far.

On Monday, Sarika’s mother and sister submitted a fresh complaint at the Police Commissionerate, urging authorities to ensure a fair and speedy investigation.

Police sources said the investigation is ongoing. Officials are awaiting the post-mortem report and other technical evidence. Investigators are also examining the deceased’s mobile phone, call records, and questioning individuals connected to her workplace and personal life.
