Retired army official arrested for alleged involvement in drug trafficking in Siliguri

Siliguri, 30th January: Former army official Ratan Biswas (48), resident of MES More, has been arrested on charges of alleged involvement in drug trafficking.


According to reports, the ex-official was travelling toward Biswas Colony on his motorcycle with the contraband. Acting on a tip-off, the Special Operations Group (SOG) and officials of the Matigara police station conducted a joint operation at the Chandmuni Hospital Line More area and halted the motorcycle.

During the search, the police recovered 258 grams of brown sugar from the accused Ratan Biswas. Subsequently, the accused was arrested and will be produced before the Siliguri Court on Wednesday.


It is to be noted that a few months prior, Ratan Biswas was initially arrested by the NJP Police on similar charges and was jailed for 18 months. However, after his bail release, the accused was arrested once again. The entire case is under further investigation.
