Siliguri, 30th January: The residents protested against installing a mobile tower in South Shanti Nagar near Vipul More adjacent to Siliguri.
Reportedly, a mobile tower is being installed on a multi-story building located in the area during the night. Upon learning about the installation, the locals opposed and demanded its removal on Tuesday.
Later, upon being notified, the cops of Ashighar Outpost arrived at the spot and brought the situation to normalcy by interacting with the protesting locals and the house owner.
In this regard, the locals stated that the tower was being installed without permission from the neighbourhood. They added that about three towers were present in the area, and another tower was being installed during the night in a populated residential area. They further asserted the health consequences of the installation for which they demanded its removal as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, the owner of the building stated that installing the mobile tower was in progress, however, as the locals demanded its removal, the work would be halted.
