Residents of Patharghata in Rajganj raised their voices in demand for construction of drain as per tender

Rajganj, 31st August: Residents of Patharghata of Majhiyali in Rajganj have raised their voices alleging irregularities in the construction of drains. The locals have raised their voices in the demand to work according to the tender.

Reportedly, during the rainfall water gets accumulated in the ground of Patharghata Colony SP Primary School submerging houses in the village. To cater to the said problem, the Gram Panchayat started the work of constructing a 280-meter drain at a cost of Rs 09 lakh. But a family stopped the construction work of the drain midway. Therefore, the drain is being constructed elsewhere. After this, today the residents of the area have raised their voices in the demand to work according to the tender.

A local resident named Nripen Pal said that there was talk of constructing a drain from the primary school grounds to the house in the village, but the drain is being constructed elsewhere after a family stopped the work of constructing the drain. He expressed his anguish over the sudden halt in the work as some of the families will be deprived of the facility of proper drainage. He added that the locals demand that the drain should be constructed as per the tender. According to the tender, the drain is being constructed from the other side of the school ground thus, putting a stop to the construction. In this regard, Hemant Roy, Deputy Pradhan of Gram Panchayat said that the matter is being discussed with the local residents and assured the drain will be constructed as per the tender.
