Rajganj, 30th September: A rare species of turtle was rescued from the Khalta Jote area under Majhiali Gram Panchayat in Rajganj on Wednesday morning.
The turtle was spotted by local residents, following which the Ambari-Falakata Range Office was informed. Forest department personnel soon reached the spot and rescued the turtle before taking it to the range office.
The turtle underwent a health examination at the range office. According to the Forest Department, the rescued turtle belongs to a rare species that is not commonly found in the area.
If the turtle is found to be healthy, it will be released into a deep forest in its natural habitat.
