Rajganj’s Panikauri Gram Panchayat slips from TMC control as BJP leaders assume Pradhan, Upa-Pradhan posts

Rajganj, 09th September: The Trinamool Congress has lost control of the Panikauri Gram Panchayat in Rajganj, with BJP members taking over the posts of Pradhan and Upa-Pradhan.

A new board was constituted at the BDO office on Wednesday in the presence of administrative officials. BJP’s Monkhushi Chowdhury assumed charge as the Pradhan, while Thabau Roy took over as the Upa-Pradhan.

The change in leadership follows the resignation of the incumbent Pradhan last month, which triggered the process to constitute a new board.

In the 2023 Panchayat elections, the Trinamool Congress had won 12 of the 22 seats in the Panikauri Gram Panchayat, while the BJP secured 10 seats. A total of 18 members were present during Wednesday’s board formation process.

Following the appointment of the new Pradhan and Upa-Pradhan, BJP workers and supporters celebrated the development. Supporters held victory celebrations alongside the newly appointed leaders and also took out a procession in the area.
