Rajganj MLA met the family of the minor killed after being hit by a pickup van in Ambari

Rajganj, 28th March: Rajganj MLA Khageswar Roy met the family of the minor who lost his life after being hit by a pickup van in Ambari of Rajganj on the occassion of Holi. Reportedly, on Thursday, the MLA visited the residence of the deceased child and expressed his condolences to the family.


It is to be noted that the tragic incident occurred on Monday at Colony No. 9 of Ambari on Ambari-Hati More state road. A pickup van loaded with goods was on its way from Hati More towards Ambari in the afternoon when it hit a three and a half year old on the roadside in the said area. Due to the impact, the minor died on the spot. After the incident, the agitated mob set the pickup van on fire and assaulted the driver. Later, the driver was transported to a hospital for medical care.

After receiving the news of the incident, a huge contingent of police of Ambari Outpost had arrived at the spot. Additionally, a fire engine also arrived and brought the inferno under control. While, attempting to bring the prevailing situation under control, a number of policemen also sustained injuries. In response, the police had arrested four individuals. On Thursday, the family and neighbours of the deceased demanded the MLA for bail to the arrested individuals and to halt police harassment.


With regard to the tragic death of the minor, the MLA stated due to his busy schedule he was unable to meet the family of the deceased. He added that talks would be held with the police so that the innocents are not subjected to harassment. Further, he advised the locals to maintain constraints and not indulge in activities against the law on occurrence of a tragic incident.
