Siliguri, 29th November: The Pradhan Nagar police, on Saturday night, arrested a longtime absconding accused involved behind various cases. The arrested accused has been identified as Deepu Kamanti.
According to police sources, Kamanti was arrested along with firearms in the Siliguri police station area, a few years ago. He was also produced at the court. However, he went into hiding since then. He is also said to have various other past criminal records.
Several days ago, the court issued a warrant under the name of Kamanti for illegally possessing firearms. On the release of the warrant, the Pradhan Nagar police arrested Kamanti from the Devidanga area last night and was produced before the Siliguri court today. A case has been registered against him under IPC 279/337/338/325/427/506/34 of the Arms Act.
