Alipurduar, 02nd March: The farmers staged a road blockade at the Asian Highway in Falakata’s Khara Kadam area, alleging black marketing in the distribution of potato bonds by the cold storage authorities.
Farmers alleged that despite being a shareholder of Falakata cold storage, the authorities have fixed only a certain amount of storage for them and are selling the remaining bonds to the potato storage traders.
The road blockade brought traffic to a standstill leading to huge traffic congestion on the Asian Highway. Upon receiving the news, the police reached the spot and intervened in the protest. After around 4 hours, the blockade was lifted.
