Kharibari, 23rd July: Police conducted inspections at 22 gram panchayat offices under the Siliguri Subdivision on Thursday over alleged irregularities in birth and death certificates.
The police action was carried out at several gram panchayat offices in Phansidewa, Kharibari and Naxalbari blocks. During the inspection, police officials collected birth and death certificate-related records from panchayat authorities for verification.
The investigation into alleged birth and death certificate irregularities is underway across different districts of West Bengal, with police teams examining documents from various local bodies.
The latest action comes after a meeting held at Uttar Kanya regarding birth and death certificate-related matters. Following the meeting, police operations have been carried out across the state to verify records and investigate possible irregularities.
