Police arrest one with stolen cash in Siliguri

Siliguri, 07th February: The officers of the New Jalpaiguri (NJP) police station recovered stolen money and returned it to the owner after proper verification. The incident led to the arrest of the accused thief Chandan Gwala.


According to reports, on January 31, the NJP police received a complaint from a woman, Shukla Mandal, who reported that about Rs 60,000 was allegedly stolen from her scooty in the Gate Bazaar area. Subsequently, the police initiated an investigation based on the complaint and arrested the accused thief from Matigara on Tuesday.

Following an interrogation, the police learned that the accused fled to Bangalore after stealing and was later arrested when he returned to Siliguri. Later, the officials recovered the stolen money. On Wednesday, the accused was produced before the court while further investigation is underway.
