Police and SST team recovered Rs 3 lakh in cash from a car in Siliguri

Siliguri, 13th April: In a significant breakthrough, the Bhakti Nagar police station and Static Surveillance Team (SST) seized Rs 3 lakhs in cash from a car during naka checking near the check post in Siliguri. Additionally, an individual was initially detained during the preliminary interrogation.


It is to be noted that after the announcement of the Lok Sabha polls in the country the Model Code of Conduct has also come into force. Under this, no individual can keep over 50 thousand in cash while travelling. Any individual caught with an amount exceeding the limits, will be considered as a violation of the code of conduct.

As per information received, following the EC guidelines, Bhakti Nagar police station and SST team were engaged in naka checking at check post traffic point on Friday night. During this, Rs 3 lakh in cash, of 500 denominations, was recovered from a bag kept inside a car. Upon being interrogated, the car occupant failed to provide valid information which prompted the police team to seize the cash.


The individual has been instructed to be present before the monitoring team led by Jalpaiguri District Magistrate (DM) on Saturday. Currently, the police and the SST team are on high alert following the recovery.
