Permanent political solution will be given to Darjeeling Hills, Terai and Dooars before 2024: Raju Bista

Siliguri, 28th December: Darjeeling BJP MP Raju Bista, while addressing the media in Siliguri’s Ward No. 02 today, said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will provide a permanent political solution to the Darjeeling hills, Terai and Dooars before 2024 and grant Scheduled Tribe Status to eleven left out Gorkha communities before the upcoming Bengal Assembly elections.

The MP said that this will only be possible through the Indian Constitution and the Parliament of India. He claimed neither Trinamool Congress nor any other political party will be able to provide a permanent solution to the hills.

Taking a dig at the Trinamool, BJP MP Raju Bista said that the party will stand up against the injustice done to the people of West Bengal by the state government.

Speaking on Gorkha Janmukti Morcha founder President Bimal Gurung, Bista said that by looking at thousands of people gathering at his public meetings in various places of Darjeeling, it is safe to say that the people of the hills still have a soft corner for Bimal Gurung and support him. Stating that Bimal Gurung had helped him a lot in the past, Bista acknowledged that he does not have any ill feelings towards Gurung.

He further claimed that the people of Darjeeling still remember the wrongs done to them during the 2017 Gorhkhaland Movement, no matter how much money the Trinamool Congress showers over GJM.

MP Raju Bista said the BJP will do better in the forthcoming Assembly elections as compared to the 2019 elections and that it will win a total of 54 seats in North Bengal.
