Siliguri, 16th September: While the pujas are just around the corner the Siliguri Metropolitan Police has tightened the city’s security to avoid any untoward incidents. Amid this, the police arrested a youth with illegal firearms. The accused has been identified as MD Anupam.
According to police sources, the cops received a tip-off on Thursday night regarding a suspicious looking youth wandering around the Dangipara area. Acting promptly, the undercover police of Siliguri police station launched an operation and nabbed the said youth. Police recovered a locally-made pistol and live cartridges from his possession.
The police suspected that Anupam was intending to commit a crime with the help of the weapon. Police registered a case against the accused for illegal possession of arms and presented him in the Siliguri court today.
