One arrested with banned firecrackers in Siliguri

Siliguri, 17th October: The Green Tribunal Court banned firecrackers that contribute to pollution and damage the environment. Following this, only the green crackers have been exempted from the ban imposed by the law. Despite such a ban, the banned crackers are still being sold in the city under the guise of green crackers. With the approach of Diwali, the Siliguri Metropolitan Police have been gearing up against such illegal activity and taking strict actions.


In regard to this, the police received a tip-off last night, about a shop located at Kelahatti that had stored huge quantity of banned firecrackers. Acting promptly, the banned firecrackers were seized by running an operation and one person was also arrested in this regard. 

The accused has been identified as Dilip Saha, a resident of Cooch Behar. According to police sources, Dilip Saha was selling banned firecrackers under the guise of green crackers. Police recovered more than 500 boxes of banned firecrackers from his possession. The accused was produced in the Siliguri court today.
