Siliguri, 01st February: A youth was arrested on charges of snatching in Siliguri. The arrested accused has been identified as Ritam Das, a resident of Dabgram.
According to reports, on Tuesday, a girl who works in Siliguri’s City Centre was heading home towards Samar Nagar at around 9 p.m. As she approached the Ganesh Ghosh Colony adjacent to Circuit House, a youth arrived on a scooty and forcefully snatched her mobile phone, and fled from the scene. Later, the matter was reported to the police.
Meanwhile, the undercover cops of the Pradhan Nagar police station launched an investigation and successfully identified the scooty used during the incident, by examining CCTV footage. Subsequently, the police learned the miscreant’s identity, and he was arrested from the Dabgram area on Wednesday. In addition, the police also recovered the phone from the accused. On Thursday, the accused was presented before the Siliguri court for further course of action.
