Cooch Behar, 20th February: A youth has been arrested for stealing a turtle from a pond situated near the Baneswar temple in Cooch Behar-2 block, on Wednesday. The accused has been identified as Vijay Kumar Maitra, a resident of Baneswar Shikshak Pally.
According to local sources, turtles were being stolen from the pond near the Baneswar temple for a long time. On Wednesday, the locals caught Vijay Kumar Maitra red-handed. It has been reported that a turtle has been recovered from his possession. The police were immediately informed about the incident. Upon the arrival of the personnel, the locals handed over the youth to the police, who are further investigating the incident.
