NJP-Darjeeling toy train service suspended after Rongtong-Tindharia rail line jolted with landslide

Siliguri, 01st September: Rongtong and Tindharia rail line has been jolted by a landslide on Thursday. Due to this, the NJP-Darjeeling toy train service has been suspended. Reportedly, 27 passengers were booked from Siliguri, but the booking was canceled by the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway at the last minute due to the unforeseen situation that arose due to the landslip.


At the same time, Darjeeling Himalayan Railway director AK Mishra said that the track of the toy train has been hit by the landslide due to which the toy train was cancelled. He further added that they cannot confirm if they will resume the service from Friday until they inspect the railway line. 

It is being told that due to heavy rains, landslides have occurred at many places in the hills and mountain ranges. The national highway between Siliguri and Sikkim has also been hit by landslides. However, one-way traffic has been started after clearing the debris of the landslide.
