New Cooch Behar Railway Station makes it to the scheduled halts of NJP-Guwahati Vande Bharat Express Train

Cooch Behar, 28th May: NJP-Guwahati Vande Bharat Express Train, which was earlier scheduled to be inaugurated on the 25th of May, initially did not have New Cooch Behar Railway Station in the trains list of scheduled stoppage. However now, the said station has been included in the new stoppage list. Notably after being postponed, now the train will be functional from the 29th of May.


Following the new stoppage list, credit claiming has been allegedly started by both Trinamool Congress (TMC) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). In this regard, TMC spokesperson, Partha Pratim Roy, said that the party had agitated for the stoppage, keeping in mind the interest of the residents of Cooch Behar, resulting in New Cooch Behar Railway Station getting the stoppage. On the other hand, Cooch Behar’s BJP MLA, Nikhil Ranjan Dey said that, the name of New Cooch Behar was omitted earlier due to certain reasons.

Earlier, after the revelation of the first stoppage list by the Railway department, the TMC party resorted to protests, following which, Union Minister of State for Home, Nisith Pramanik had assured that the name of New Cooch Behar Railway station would be in the final list. Subsequently, the inaugural run of the Vande Bharat Express Train was postponed. Meanwhile, on Saturday, the new stoppage list has been published by the Railways, inclusive of New Cooch Behar Train Station.
