Siliguri, 29th May: Several workers of Mohurgong Tea Estate, on Friday, staged a protest over setting up a quarantine center in Sukna’s Ila Pal Choudhury Memorial Tribal Hindi High School.
Acting on the state government’s directives, the said school was set up as a quarantine center to provide shelter to several migrant workers for 14 days. After the matter came to light, the agitated locals gathered outside the school, closed the school gate, and staged demonstrations. The protestors claimed that taking such an initiative can easily spread the deadly virus in the locality.
In this context, the representatives of the tea garden laborers stated that the laborers will continue protesting in this regard until and unless the government changes its decision.
