Siliguri, 22nd August: State Tourism Minister Goutam Deb held a meeting with administrative officials at Manik Tourist Lodge in Siliguri regarding illegal construction in Bidhan Market.
The meeting was attended by Darjeeling District Magistrate S. Ponnambalam, SJDA Chairman Vijay Chandra Barman, Vice-Chairman Nantu Pal and SJDA member Ranjan Sarkar.
After the meeting, it was decided that in the coming days the SJDA will be notified before any construction is initiated in the Bidhan Market. If any case of illegal construction or encroachment will be found by the body, the shop/building will be destroyed immediately.
Apart from this, the Municipal Corporation Commissioner will be notified regarding any illegal construction in Siliguri Municipal Corporation area. In addition to this, legal action will be taken against the constructors.
