Siliguri, 30th May: In view of the COVID-19 pandemic, the State Tourism Minister Goutam Deb, along with the administrative officials, held an emergency meeting at the Matigara BDO office. Darjeeling District DM S. Ponnambalam, Siliguri SDO Sumanta Sahay, Matigara BDO Runu Roy, and many other officials were present during the meeting.
After the meeting, Minister Goutam Deb, addressing the media, accused the central government of sending the laborers back to the state without conducting their health check-up. As a result, the positive cases are on a rise. He further maintained that quarantine centers are being set up in all the blocks for the workers returning from different states. Concerning the problems faced in Matigara block, he assured of providing a solution soon.
