Siliguri, 27th July: A memorandum was submitted to Deputy Mayor on behalf of 09 voluntary organizations, regarding several problems in the city. According to the information, today the memorandum was submitted by NAF, Siliguri Suryanagar Samaj Kalyan, Unique Foundation, Farabari Welfare Society, and other organizations.
On this occasion, Animesh Basu on behalf of NAF alleged that a commercial center is being constructed on the property located in the Siliguri Hashmi Chowk area which has in fact been designated for the construction a parking plaza. If a parking area is not constructed then problems may arise further, he added.
In addition to this, he also put forward a demand for a second electric stove at the Kiran Chandra Crematorium. Due to the lack of a second electronic cremation furnace, people are facing difficulty. Furthermore, demand to build a changing room for women at the cremation ground was also made.
Adding to the demands, the organizations also demanded SMC to strictly implement the ban imposed on plastic carry bags.
