Fulbari, 17th March: Siliguri Mayor Goutam Deb, Deputy Mayor Ranjan Sarkar and other officials laid the foundation stone of Sewage Treatment Plant-3 at Fulbari, on Friday.
It is to be noted that in the year 2009, the construction of Sewage Treatment Plant-3 started in the Fulbari area. Later the work came to a standstill. After a long time, Siliguri Municipal Corporation resumed the work of the said plant. Through the said plant, the water of the Jorapani river and Fuleswari river will be made pollution-free using the scientific method through Sewage Treatment Plant and that water will be released into the river.
In this regard, Mayor Goutam Deb said that the said work was stalled for a long time. With the efforts of the State Government and the Chief Minister of the State, Mamta Banerjee, this work has resumed again. In the first phase, the work is being started at a cost of Rs 68 crore.
