Rajganj, 5th July: A young man lost his life in a tragic road accident while on his way to his salon on Saturday afternoon near Nakugach along the Jatiakali–Gadra road under the Sannyasikata Gram Panchayat area in Rajganj.
The deceased has been identified as Bhabatosh Sharma, a resident of Baniyapara under Fulbari-II Gram Panchayat. He lived with his wife and two children.
According to family members, Sharma earned his livelihood by running a salon. After returning home in the afternoon as part of his daily routine, he left for his shop on his bike at around 5 pm. Upon reaching the Nakugach area, he was allegedly hit by a four-wheeler, throwing him onto the road and leaving him critically injured.
Residents stated that Sharma remained on the road for some time before he was taken to a private hospital in Fulbari in an e-rickshaw. Doctors at the hospital declared him dead upon arrival.
His body has been sent for post-mortem examination and is expected to be handed over to the family on Sunday.
Following the incident, local residents once again raised concerns over the narrow stretch of the Jatiakali–Gadra road, alleging that accidents occur frequently due to the road’s limited width. They claimed several lives have been lost on the same stretch in the past and demanded that the road be widened at the earliest to prevent further tragedies.
Police from Rajganj Police Station reached the spot after receiving information about the accident and have initiated an investigation. The incident has cast a pall of gloom over the area.
