Man, brother attacked for opposing drinking activities in Siliguri’s Ward No. 38

Siliguri, 04th April: An unsettling incident came to light where an individual was allegedly assaulted for opposing drinking activities in public. The incident led to a commotion in Ward No. 38 of Siliguri. The injured individual has been identified as Prasenjit Sen, a resident of Ward No. 38.


As per details received, a few days some individuals gathered near the Ward Councillor’s office in the said area and were allegedly involved in drinking activities openly. During this, Prasenjit Sen had raised objections.

Later, on Wednesday night, Prasenjit Sen and his brother commuting on a two-wheeler were allegedly halted and assaulted by three individuals in Sanghati More area. After the incident, Prasenjit and his brother were rescued and rushed to Siliguri District Hospital. Prasenjit was discharged after getting first aid; however his brother is still admitted at the hospital as condition was critical.


In this regard, Prasenjit stated that few days after the occasion of Holi, some individuals were allegedly drinking openly near the Ward Councillor’s office. He had expressed his objection to the incident. Significantly, the matter was published in the news and subsequently he and his brother were attacked with a knife. He added that he would filed a complaint at Ashighar Outpost.
