Siliguri, 19th February: In a major success during naka checking, police arrested a man with banned cough syrup as part of its ongoing drive to make the city drug-free
According to police sources, the plainclothes team of Pradhan Nagar Police Station was conducting naka checking on Wednesday night when the accused was intercepted. He was travelling on a scooty from the Circuit House side towards the check post via Siliguri Junction
On suspicion, police searched the vehicle at the naka checking point and recovered 41 bottles of banned cough syrup from a carton. Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused was allegedly heading to deliver the consignment in the check post area when he was apprehended
The arrested individual has been identified as Naresh Kamti, a native of Bihar who was currently residing in Siliguri. The scooty used in the transportation was also seized
A case has been registered against the accused under the NDPS Act. He was produced before the Siliguri court. Further investigation is underway
