Drug trade operating from house busted in Siliguri, 267 grams brown sugar seized, youth arrested

Siliguri, 17th April: A drug trade being operated from a house was busted in Siliguri, with police arresting a youth and seizing 267 grams of brown sugar.


The operation was carried out jointly by the SOG and Matigara Police Station personnel in plain clothes based on a tip-off. The accused has been identified as Rohit Mahato (19), a resident of Vishwas Colony.

According to police sources, the accused was allegedly running a narcotics trade from his residence, which had turned into a hub for such activities. He was reportedly managing the entire operation himself.


Acting on the information, police kept the house under surveillance for nearly 24 hours before conducting the raid and catching the accused red-handed.

During the search, police recovered 267 grams of brown sugar, ₹15,000 in cash, and three mobile phones. The estimated market value of the seized contraband is said to be in lakhs.

A case has been registered against the accused under the NDPS Act, and he was produced before the Siliguri court with a plea for remand. Further investigation is underway.
