Lorry carrying apples crashes in Naxalbari, two injured

Naxalbari, 05th May: A lorry loaded with apples crashed into the Magurmari River at Satbhaiya More in Naxalbari on Monday morning, leaving two people injured. The injured have been identified as Fawad Ahmed and Umar Jabbar, both residents of Kashmir.


Reports state the lorry was en route from Kashmir to Siliguri when the driver allegedly fell asleep, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and plunge into the river. Both the driver and his assistant sustained injuries and were taken to Naxalbari Hospital, where they were discharged after receiving first aid.

Following the incident, personnel from the Naxalbari Traffic Guard arrived at the scene. With the help of a crane, the lorry was recovered. The accident also damaged a barricade on the Asian Highway. Police have launched an investigation into the matter.
