Jalpaiguri, 17th August: The students of Jalpaiguri Pharmacy College, on Monday, gheraoed the college principal and staged a protest demanding cancellation of examinations amid the ongoing pandemic. Upon receiving the news, a large police force of the Kotwali police station reached the spot to take stock of the situation.
As per the report, the fourth year examination is scheduled to start on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the college authorities claim that as per the instructions of the Health University, arrangements have been made to conduct the exams maintaining social distance.
Today, the college students gheraoed the principal and professors in this regard. Abhishek Biswas, a student, stated they are being pressurized to take exams while other colleges have postponed their examinations.
They further expressed concern over one of the student, who has been admitted to Jalpaiguri Super Specialty Hospital following fever and breathlessness.
Meanwhile, the college principal Sourav Sinha Roy stated that they have decided to conduct the examinations as per the instructions given by the Health university.
