Alipurduar, 26th December: The mahout, leafy and temporary forest workers of Jaldapara National Park are protesting in support of several demands including stabilization, salary hike, and payment of outstanding bonuses.
Reportedly, the workers have been involved in the movement for a long time. The temporary forest workers said that many of them have been working for eight to ten years for a mere salary of Rs 7,000. They further added that it is difficult to run a family with such a low salary and thus cited the reason they have joined the movement.
However, they warned to launch a strike for an indefinite period if their demands are not met. Furthermore, they also threatened to stop Jungle Safari in Jaldapara after 27th December.
