INTTUC raises voice in demand for rehabilitation of hawkers in NJP

Siliguri, 05th August: Ministry of Railway has commenced its plan toward beautifying the NJP station. Due to this, the Railway Department issued a notice to vacate the hawkers and certain areas around the station. 


After this, Trinamool’s labor organization INTTUC again joined the movement demanding the rehabilitation of the hawkers. Today, on behalf of the INTTUC NJP branch, members of the organization handed over a memorandum demanding the same to the Railway Officer through a massive rally.

Darjeeling district president of the organization, Nishan Dey said that his party will not condone the removal of hawkers in the name of development. The authorities should commence their work on development after arranging proper rehabilitation or relocation for the poor hawkers. He further added that they will launch a massive agitation in the coming days if the authorities will not comply with their demands.
