India’s first 2 Omicron cases reported in Karnataka

The Health Ministry on Thursday announced that two COVID-19 cases of the Omicron variant have been detected in the country. Both the cases have been reported in Karnataka with the patients being a 66-year-old foreigner (male) with a history of travel to South Africa and a 46-year-old health worker (male) in Bengaluru.


All people who came in contact with the two men have been traced and are being tested. Meanwhile, the government has advised states to ramp up testing to contain the virus.
