Cooch Behar, 08th April: On Sunday night, a sudden fire reduced an entire house to ashes located in Paschim Khaterbari area of Hajarhat II Gram Panchayat under Mathabhanga Block I.
Upon being alerted, the fire department personnel arrived at the spot and brought the situation under control. Reportedly, gold jewellery, cash, jute, tobacco, paddy kept in the residence were burnt to ashes.
In this regard, the family claimed damage worth lakhs of rupees. The preliminary analysis indicate that the inferno was sparked by a short-circuit.
