Dhupguri, 26th August: An anti-tobacco drive was launched at various parts of the Dhupguri police station area on Wednesday under the initiative of the Jalpaiguri health department.
The health department, along with the Dhupguri police, carried out the campaign today in the shops adjacent to hospitals, bus stand, and government offices. Awareness was also raised among several traders of the Dhupguri hospital area.
According to the department, fines will be levied if necessary. At the same time, strict action will be taken against the traders who sell tobacco products to those below 18 years of age.
