Gold trader robbed at gunpoint while returning home from shop in Kharibari

Kharibari, 28th June: A gold trader was allegedly robbed at gunpoint while returning home after closing his shop, triggering panic in the Batasi area of Kharibari on Saturday night.

According to reports, the victim, Tapan Sarkar, was on his way home when three miscreants riding two motorcycles intercepted him near his residence in Vijaypally village. The accused allegedly brandished firearms and snatched two bags before fleeing the spot.

Eyewitnesses said all three suspects were wearing helmets, making it difficult to identify them. The stolen bags reportedly contained gold and silver jewellery, although the exact quantity and the total value of the stolen items have not yet been determined.

The incident has sparked concern among local residents and business owners, especially as a similar robbery had taken place in broad daylight in the same area about a year ago.
